    THE STUDY ON ICT APPLICATIONS TO VIETNAMESE TRADING VILLAGES Case study: Van Phuc Silk Village

    Information and communication technologies (ICT) have contributed greatly to the economic success of Vietnam, the second fastest developing country in the world. Due to be the feasibility of being widely applied to many fields, ICT speeds up the economy, changes the social structure, life style, etc. It helps narrow down the gap between developed and developing countries. Despite the fact of having a high growth rate, which places Vietnam among the fastest countries in developing ICT, only small number of the population, are utilizing the benefit of information technology. ICT in general and Internet technology in particular seems to be known by the students, scientists or people who works at the high level of social structure such as the government, ministry, city or province, but has not touched to the normal citizens who live in small communes, or less advance region which account for nearly 60% of the population. This situation must be changed as Vietnam has entered the WTO(world trade organization) recently and it will soon be affected by the working and living style in the developed countries where Internet plays the crucial role in their societies. Integrating people in the community, maintaining the tradition, but at the same time, educating them the importance of information technology, become the priority. Van Phuc is a typical Vietnamese trade village, which located at about 10km from Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. Van Phuc is very famous for its silk products, which have very long tradition of more than 1000 years. Currently, because of its adjacent location to Hanoi, Van Phuc has been impacted by the urbanization and advance technologies. How to enforce the solidarity among the commune members and to maintain the tradition becomes an emergent need. Integrating people in an information system whereby people are closely interrelated to each other could be a solution. The information system will help them not only share information inside the village, but also bring economic benefits from e-commerce activities

    Enterprise Systems and Customer Agility Exploratory Study in Vietnam

    Contemporary companies in developing countries are raising their budget on Enterprise systems (ES). ES are expected to enhance Customer agility (CA) which refers to a firm’s capability to sense and respond to customer changes effectively. However, research in the relationship between ES on CA is contradictory. Taking Vietnam as the context, our study investigates the role of ES on CA in ten interviewed companies. Using multi-case methodology, the study also aims to seek for deep observation of CA in Vietnam business. Consistent with past literature, CA in the interviewed companies is affected by organizational context (i.e. industry, business function). In Vietnam, the role of ES on CA is not seen at its full extent. Most companies use ES to store and process data for its daily operation. Only a few of them store multiple types of data in their ES and utilize the advanced functions of the ES for customer analysis. Moreover, even when companies highly appreciate the competence of ES for advanced customer behaviour analysis, top managers are not using ES as a main source of information for their customer related decision-making. Due to their lack of trust on the capability of the system, low self-efficacy in ES usage plus the Vietnam trading specifics, top managers prefer other sources of data, own experiences and own report styles to make decisions

    Leptin Receptor, a Surface Marker for a Subset of Highly Engrafting Long-Term Functional Hematopoietic Stem Cells

    Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI)The entire hematopoietic system rests upon a group of very rare cells called hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). Due to this extraordinarily crucial role, after birth HSCs are localized to the deep bone marrow niche, a hypoxic environment inside the bone where HSCs are under well-orchestrated regulation by both cellular and humoral factors. Among the cellular components regulating hematopoiesis are Leptin Receptor (LEPR)-expressing mesenchymal/stromal cells and adipocytes; both have been demonstrated to have significant influence on the maintenance of HSCs under homeostasis and in stress-related conditions. It has been reported in early work by others that HSCs and hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPCs) express LEPR. However, whether LEPR+ HSCs/HPCs are functionally different from other HSCs/HPCs was unknown. In this study, I demonstrated for the first time that murine LEPR+ Lineage-Sca-1+cKit+ (LSK, a heterogenous population consisting of HSCs/HPCs) cells even though constituting a small portion of total LSK cells are significantly enriched for both phenotypic and functional self-renewing long-term (LT) HSCs as shown in primary and secondary transplants in lethally irradiated recipients. LEPR+LSK cells are also more enriched for colony-forming progenitor cells assessed by colony-forming unit (CFU) assays. In addition, LEPR+ HSCs (defined as LSKCD150+CD48-) exhibited robust repopulating potential as compared to LEPR-HSCs in long-term competitive transplantation assays. To elucidate the molecular pathways that may govern functional properties of LEPR+HSCs, bulk RNA-seq on freshly sorted cells was done. Gene set enrichment analyses (GSEA) revealed Interferon Type I and Interferon γ (IFNγ) Pathways were significantly enriched in LEPR+HSCs while mitochondrial membrane protein gene set was significantly enriched in LEPR-HSCs. Interestingly, proinflammatory signaling including IFNγ pathway has been suggested to be critical for the emergence of embryonic HSCs from the hemogenic endothelium. Altogether, our work demonstrated that LEPR+HSCs represent a small subset of highly engrafting adult BM HSCs. These results may have potential therapeutic implications in the field of hematopoietic transplantation as LEPR is highly conserved between mice and humans

    Enterprise Systems and Organizational Agility: A Review of the Literature and Conceptual Framework

    The impact of enterprise systems (ES) on organizational agility (OA) is an under-researched area. Given that most organizations are heavily investing on ES infrastructure and the increasing demand for agility, the lack of research on ES and OA is a critical oversight. This article reviews previous literature on information systems in general and ES in particular and organizational agility. The article offers a comprehensive and deepened perspective toward the existing discourses on ES-enabled organizational agility. Using insights from the dynamic capability theory, we propose a conceptual framework that highlights how organizations can exploit ESs to improve their agility in two significant ways―by creating and constantly developing an ES-enabled sensing and responding capability. We also argue that the quality of the ES competence provides the necessary technical and business platform for deploying and exploiting ES in building and rebuilding sensing and responding capabilities. The proposed framework sheds light on three important missing factors in the realm of IT-enabled organizational agility, namely ES competency, the alignment between ES-enabled sensing and responding capability, and environmental dynamism. Our theorizing makes an original contribution to ES and IS research by extending previous works of IT-enabled organizational agility by introducing the three constructs previously mentioned

    Mathematical Communication is one of the required competencies of the learner in the needs of the real life, and in learning Mathematics, students always have the need to communicate with teacher and other students to solve problems in mathematics, as well as to present the solution or mathematical ideas to the others. However, there are many difficulties with many reasons when they exchange or communicate with the others by mathematical language in classroom. Therefore, the ability for communicating in Math is one of the required competencies of students. In this paper, we try to find out the obstacles which make students have difficulty when they are in mathematical communication while learning continuous functions. The problems set out in this article to assess how difficulties in communication in the Math class, so that we can recommend some possible strategies for teachers to help their students in order to overcome these obstacles in practicing teaching

    An Adoption Model of Software as a Service (SaaS) in SMEs

    Software as Service (SaaS) model of cloud computing is currently one of the most advanced technology innovations. Due to its scalability and network-based operation, SaaS offers opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to take advantage of the latest technology without costly investment on IT infrastructure and expertise. Despite its benefits, SMEs’ adoption of SaaS is not prevalent. In this paper, by synthesizing Diffusion of Innovation theory, Technology-Organization-Environment theory and Protection Motivation theory, we propose a conceptual model which explains adoption factors of SaaS in SMEs. Our proposed model extends focus on protection motivation of SMEs in assessing SaaS adoption risks in addition to technology, organisation, and environment factors

    The Impact of Job Satisfaction on Job Performance of Tax Officials: An Empirical Study in Vietnam

    Purpose: The level of employee satisfaction with the use of e-tax systems is a major factor influencing the success of such systems. While studies typically focus on taxpayers' perspectives, this research investigates the influence of perceived ease of use, IT background, incentives, and social influence on tax officials’ job performance, mediated by tax officials’ job satisfaction.   Theoretical framework: The research is based on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to propose the research model which analyze the impact of job satisfaction on job performance.    Design/Methodology/Approach: A quantitative approach was adopted, involving surveys administered to tax officials in Vietnam. The study analyzed 250 valid responses using Cronbach's test, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM).   Findings: The research revealed that all four factors significantly influence job performance through job satisfaction of tax officials in Vietnam. These findings provide valuable insights for tax authorities to improve job performance.   Research, Practical & Social implications: The research results contribute to other countries with similar characteristics in devising strategies to enhance employee performance. However, its limitations include its generalizability to other e-tax systems and countries. Future research with a larger sample size could bolster the applicability of these findings nationally.   Originality/Value: The research suggests tax authorities to support tax officials improve their professional skills; improve the regulations, policies on salary and bonus for tax officials; assist tax officials in using the e-tax system; implement effective communication
